Buy American Electrical Connectors Our company is
a US connector manufacturer. We proudly manufacture and assemble connectors in the United States and we can satisfy your "Buy American" or "Buy America" requirements.
There are two similar, yet different, acts covering U.S. Government contracts and the amount of allowable foreign content.
These acts are: a) "Buy American Act" which was enacted in 1938
b) "Buy America Act" which was enacted in 1982 (Note: There is no letter "n" at the end of "America") Buy America Act 49CFR, Part 661 was enacted in 1982 and covers surface transportation.
Electrical connectors are considered to be a subcomponent and MUST be manufactured in the United States. Sic: Section 661.11 Paragraph (h) "A subcomponent is of domestic origin if it is manufactured in the United
States."
Buy American Act Title 41,
Sections 10a thru 10d of the United States code enacted in 1938 provides that the government give preference to domestic end products. "Components," as used in this clause, means those articles, materials, and
supplies incorporated directly into the end products. "Domestic end product," as used in this clause, means -
(1) an unmanufactured end product mined or produced in the United States
(2)
an end product manufactured in the United States, if the cost of its components mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States exceeds 50 percent of the cost of all its components. Components of foreign
origin of the same class or kind as the products referred to in subparagraphs (b)(2) or (3) of this clause shall be treated as domestic. Scrap generated, collected, and prepared for processing in the United States is
considered domestic. "End products," as used in this clause, means those articles, materials, and supplies to be acquired for public use under this Contract. Some connector manufacturers have their
components produced in such countries as China, India, Korea, Mexico, and Taiwan. A large percentage of their products are assembled in Mexico. If these procedures somehow meet the letter of the law of the "Buy
American Act" or "Buy America Act", they certainly don't meet the original intent -- keeping jobs in the United States and helping our economy. Please click below for our catalogs: |
